Ramses Safina was bred by Martin Loeber's Plum Grove Farm of Illinois. Her sire *Ramses Fayek was imported into the United States from the Egyptian Agricultural Organization (EAO) in 1970. *Ramses Fayek was a successful show horse, and a successful National level show horse sire. He descended from the Dahman Shawaniah mare Nefisa, of the Farida dam line.

Seven years after the import of *Ramses Fayek, the dam of Ramses Safina also arrived from the EAO in Egypt at the age of three. This three year old mare, named *Ramses Sadaka, became a prolific broodmare. She produced 11 foals between 1978 - 1999. Consequently, Ramses Safina also went on to become a prolific broodmare, producing 11 foals during her breeding career.
